A modest proposal

In this essay im going to explain the relation between these two important values which are fairness and justice in the story of a modest proposal, first of all in order for me to talk about this i nerd you to clearly understand what does this teo values mean, fairness is the quality of treating people equally or in a way that is right or reasonable, and justice is the condition of being morally correct or fair. the story “ a modest proposal” takes place in ireland, ireland was having very bad economic crisis because every money that there were gaining they were giving it all to england, other big problem that they were having was the overpopulation specially from poor people, poor moms had lots of kids which were poor too and that was causing overpopulation, the autor of the story, Jonathan swift wanted to do a modest proposal to end with this problem so he proposed to the poor people that the give their childs in sell so rich people can buy them and eat them, with this Ireland will

Gratefulness and trustworthiness in “the diary of samuel pepys”

There are two important values im going to write about taking in count the story of “samuel pepys” ,these two values are  trustworthiness and gratefulness first of all in order for me to write about this i need to explain  in what consists these two values, trustworthiness means is when you can completely trust in someone that this person will never tell nobody the secrets you tell to him or her, and gratefulness is when you are completely grateful about all the things god have gave to you in the course of your life , that you don’t need nothing more in order to be a happy person. Now in the story of the diary of samuel pepys there talks about a man named samuel who in my opinion at the beginning of the story doesn’t  show to much ant of these two values in exception of one moment when samuel was so great-full because he could be present when the king arrive, then when there was  the catastrophe of the fire in london as the fire at the beginning doesn’t affect him at all, neither to h

what virtues must have a person today to make earth a better place to live in

A great crisis of our times is failure to realize that we have a drive to make the world we live in a better place. All animals have a drive to make their environment better, albeit, applied to other animals, “better” just means safer, more comfortable, or pleasurable. For humans, the term also means fairer and more moral. Of course, “better” is a relative term, sometimes confused with “great” or “good” or “acceptable.” Because we’re highly limited in making the world we live in great or good or even acceptable, we lose sight of the need to make it better. Yet the smallest ways of making the world better can ultimately be the most potent, by virtue of the butterfly effect, where the smallest change in one part of the ecosystem affects large changes in other parts. The psychological mechanism of the butterfly effect is composed of the fundamental ways that social animals, including humans, communicate and cooperate: modeling, emotional display, and mimicry. Modeling is simply e

My legend: The Great evil mommy

There was a great mother who loves unconditionally her son named david, he was a great son who behaves good and studied in a very religious school in which there also were his friends who misbehaved and do bad things to incriminate him, one day those kids killed an animal and let it in the middle of the school and with its blood they wrote “David” in the floor so all the school thinks that the one who killed the animal was him. The principal who was bad saw this and expelled the kids including david and later he killed them, the mom of david was filled of angry and sadness so she committed suicide, now people say that the great evil mommy goes at midnight searching for kids that misbehaves and when she found them she killed them but if one of the kids manages to scape she search for him until she found him and hide behind his bed to kill him, it is said that kids must ring a bell to advice his real moms so they won’t be killed but this actually never works because the great evil mommy

Colombia/barranquilla, my neighborhood

Barranquilla is a port at the North Coast of Colombia, a city with a little more than a million people. For many years, Barranquilla was a very important trading port and therefore, lots of those traders decided to settle down there. As a matter of fact, I think you may have heard about a certain Colombian musician of Arab origin from Barranquilla, her name is Isabel Mebarak Ripoll but some also call her Shakira. Shakria’s hips are reportedly some of the most honest in showbusiness Above all, Barranquilla is where the biggest Carnival in Colombia is held. Due to its amazing cultural display, El Carnaval de Barranquilla was proclaime  by UNESCO, in November 2003, as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. It’s second only to the Carnival in Rio in terms of size and, of course, fun! There are four main Carnival days, you can feel the ambiance changing weeks prior to it, when the Carebeann rhythm of carnival music fills the air in anticipation of

Rejection of women in some work fields

Explanations for women's underrepresentation in math-intensive fields of science often focus on sex discrimination in grant and manuscript reviewing, interviewing, and hiring. Claims that women scientists suffer discrimination in these arenas rest on a set of studies undergirding policies and programs aimed at remediation. More recent and robust empiricism, however, fails to support assertions of discrimination in these domains. To better understand women's underrepresentation in math-intensive fields and its causes, we reprise claims of discrimination and their evidentiary bases. Based on a review of the past 20 y of data, we suggest that some of these claims are no longer valid and, if uncritically accepted as current causes of women's lack of progress, can delay or prevent understanding of contemporary determinants of women's underrepresentation. We conclude that differential gendered outcomes in the real world result from differences in resources attributable to ch

Social, political and economical situation in 3 counties in South America

VENEZUELA Venezuela is suffering the worst economic crisis in its history. Ordinary people in the oil-rich country are regularly going without food. Three-quarter empty supermarkets are being ransacked by angry, hungry mobs. The government has declared a state of emergency, food is now being transported under armed guard, and basic necessities are being rationed. People have to queue for hours and sometimes overnight on their assigned days to receive staples like rice and cooking oil. Venezuela has the world’s worst negative growth rate (-8%), and the worst inflation rate (482%). The unemployment rate is 17% but is expected to climb to near 30% in the coming few years. The shadow of hunger, the desperation of the crowds and the spread of unrest and criminality threaten the government of Nicolas Maduro , three years after he was bequeathed power by the dying revolutionary strongman, Hugo Chavez. The opposition has launched a drive to canvas signatures for a petition for him to st

violence against women and children

Violence against women is any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life. There are different types of violence, some of them are: Intimate partner violence: refers to behaviour by an intimate partner or ex-partner that causes physical, sexual or psychological harm, including physical aggression, sexual coercion, psychological abuse and controlling behaviours. Sexual violence: is "any sexual act, attempt to obtain a sexual act, or other act directed against a person’s sexuality using coercion, by any person regardless of their relationship to the victim, in any setting. How the process of democratic elections in Colombia was

On March 11, Colombians head to the polls to vote in legislative elections for 102 Senate and 166 House of Representatives seats. It’ll be the first national vote in the FARC post-conflict era, and the next Congress will include at least 10 members from the demobilized guerrillas’ political party. Colombian legislative elections are determined via proportional representation, with parties winning seats in Congress based on the share of votes they receive. One hundred of the Senate seats are voted on nationally, while 161 House of Representative seats are elected per the 32 departments and one capital district. Additionally, Colombia’s Afro descendant And indigenous communities elect two senators and four representatives via a separate ballot, and the expat community gets one congressperson in the lower chamber. Experts estimate the threshold of votes a party needs to get in order to secure any representation in Congress, starting with representatives in the House, will be around 3
